Each spring, all active and new members of the JLWS, and quite a few sustaining members, get together for one week of hard work, camaraderie, and service to the community. Since 1954, the annual JLWS Rummage Sale has been a common thread through thousands of women’s JLWS experiences. For many, some of their best moments, best friends, and best stories come from the hours worked at this event. The Rummage Sale is the largest annual fundraiser for the JLWS, funding 25 percent of the operating budget. JLWS active, new and sustaining members, friends, family, community members and local retailers donate items that are sold at very reasonable prices. The JLWS Rummage Sale is held at the Lawrence Joel Coliseum Annex and the adjacent Education Building of the Dixie Classic Fairgrounds. Approximately 62,000 square feet of space houses more than 20 departments of clothing, shoes, books, housewares, antiques and much more. This is truly a community event. Many of our customers tell us that they have been coming to the sale for 10, 20, even 40 years!
